Our thanks to Matheson LLP for hosting the 2026 ICBA AGM, to KMCA Auditors for presenting the audited accounts, and to everyone who attended and contributed.

New Direct Shannon–Toronto Route to Strengthen Business Links
A new direct Air Canada service between Shannon and Toronto is set to further strengthen connectivity between Ireland and Canada, creating new opportunities for trade, investment and business travel.
Launching on 11 June 2027, the seasonal service will operate three times weekly until 3 October, using Air Canada’s new A321XLR aircraft.
The route will provide businesses—particularly those in the West of Ireland—with direct access to Toronto, a major North American financial, technology and innovation hub, while offering onward connections across Canada and beyond.
The new service is also expected to support tourism and regional development, further strengthening the growing economic and commercial links between Ireland and Canada.

Atlantic Canada Trade Mission Comes to Ireland
A delegation of 13 companies from Atlantic Canada will visit Ireland from 18–20 October, seeking new customers, partners, distributors and commercial opportunities as they explore expansion into Ireland and wider European markets.
The companies span a diverse range of sectors and are particularly interested in connecting with potential customers, distributors, agents and strategic partners. ICBA members, colleagues or clients interested in meeting members of the delegation are invited to get in touch.

Robert G. Kearns Receives Valentia Global Impact Medal
Congratulations to Robert G. Kearns, Founder of the Canada Ireland Foundation, on receiving the inaugural 2026 Valentia Global Impact Medal at the Valentia Island Cable Foundation Gala Dinner in Co. Kerry.
Presented by former Canadian Ambassador to Ireland Nancy Smyth, the award recognises Robert’s longstanding contribution to strengthening Irish-Canadian cultural and civic ties.
Through initiatives including Ireland Park, Grasett Park and The Corleck in Toronto, Robert has created an enduring legacy celebrating the shared history of Ireland and Canada.

OpenText doubles investment in Ireland
Canadian technology company OpenText has announced a €105 million investment that will create an additional 400 jobs at its sites in Cork and Galway over the next three years.
IDA Ireland said it is the single largest investment into Ireland by a technology company headquartered in Canada, marking a significant milestone in Canada-Ireland technology and economic collaboration.
